When babies startle, they throw their arms up and make a "C" with their fingers. It's called the Moro Relfex or the startle reflex, and I got a kick out of seeing Jake do it.
Some evolutionists believe this is a behavior left over from when we were apes - when a monkey falls from a tree, they throw their arms up and try to catch a branch on the way down. At least that's what one of the nurses told us when we were in the hosptal in Boston.
Maybe Jake is dreaming of swinging from trees in the picture below.
